THE ART OF ATTACHING PEOPLE WITH AMAAL

Ubqari Magazine - October 2013

We stayed as guests at someone’s home in interior Sindh who was very poor and low. Anyways, he served us whatever was available. I asked him that have you read the Quran? He said, “Saaien! I don’t know Quran, neither am I educated; I am an illiterate man.” I said to him that I will make you memorize you one thing. They are only few words.  I thought that he can’t memorize Anmol Khazana 1; at least he should memorize Anmol Khazana # 2.

I asked the sufaid posh man that you can learn this much!!! Actually I went there to perform certain amaals. I had to stay in the jungle and he was responsible of providing us food, two times a day. I asked him not to cook such food again. I gave some money for that dervish’s grocery in his pocket through a companion of mine. Now I asked him and his family to memorize Anmol Khazana # 2. They learnt it and that too in a sindhi ascent.

Different Ascents: I have heard Quran in Pashto and Punjabi. People read Quran in Pashto as well as Punjabi. In Pashto, people do not read ‘Yaseen’. They read ‘Jaseen. Bal Quranil Hakeem. Quran is read in Pashto and Punjabi ascents. Our tones are different. When tone changes, so does the meaning with a change in zair zabar signs. There are 20 such words in Quran where if a mistake is incurred, then the reader is exempted from emaaan. A lot of care needs to be observed.

I told my host that no! Not like this. I won’t make you recite in Sindhi ascent. I know little Arabic; memorize it like that. He kept repeating. I recalled an idiom: ‘Mun Khaway te aakh sharmaway’. I thought we are eating from his house. Although we have given him money for the expense but even then. They are putting in efforts. They cook, feed us. It’s a matter of two meals a day. We should give them some present. Why their life should be spent in misery and poverty. Then what was the use of your arrival Tariq when you dint teach the name of Allah.

Ubqari’s Message: I give you the same message as well. Wherever you go; if you travel with anyone or be some one’s guest or if you become host to anyone or if you spent few moments, few hours or few days with someone, do teach them the name of Allah and the love and affection of Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

During Hajj, I was sharing my room with 3 other people. It took me 1-2 days to break the ice. They were a team and I was alone. I thought that I should teach them something or the other. I used to sit with them. Usually I had eatables with me which I shared with them. I used to initiate conversation by talking about an amal, a wazifa or any supplication (dua).

I asked them that when you went for tawaaf, then which dua you recited. Please share some duas with me. When you went for the sa’ee on safa marwa, then which duas did you made there? A person was doing ablution and during that, he incurred a mistake. Hazrat Hussain RA and Hazrat Hasan RA (Prince of Heaven) were watching. One brother asked that man to watch whether I am making the ablution correctly. And while doing the ablution, he corrected the man’s ablution.

Spreading Religion and Routine Life: If anyone moves with us and we move with anyone and spend four days of life together. I was reading a hadees. Meaning: Allah becomes upset with such people who do dealings with each other but do not pass on the message of Allah. Allah becomes angry with such nation; such people. Today, this is what is happening. We deal with people, do businesses but do not pass on the message of Allah. We should assign Allah’s men on one or the other amal. I try my best to pass any message to anyone who sits in my company. I asked the condition of a rickshaw driver. He said, “Earlier, I used to drive a roller. Then I retired. Then I bought a rickshaw. My vehicle is old. My children study. I am very miserable and very poor.” I told a zikr to that rickshaw driver:

:’’یَا وَدُوْدُ صَلّیِ عَلیٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِہٖ وَاَصْحَابِہٖ اِنَّکَ رَحِیْمُ الْوَدُوْدُ‘‘

Recite this and your days shall change: I made him memorize this supplication. My journey began, the rickshaw kept moving and he memorized it. I said to him to recite this frequently and your condition shall change. We came across after a long time. He recognized me although I dint. He said to me, “Through your zikr, Allah changed my condition. My days and nights were passing in misery. But now Allah has taken me out from my gloomy conditions to a life of ease, facilities, barkats, tranquility and rahmat. I drive the rickshaw throughout the day and so do I recite my zikr.

’’یَا وَدُوْدُ صَلّیِ عَلیٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِہٖ وَاَصْحَابِہٖ اِنَّکَ رَحِیْمُ الْوَدُوْدُ‘‘
